august 13, 2007 - where 2 or more are gathered....

top of the morning to you, friends...

well, i had a busy day sunday! tonya and bob benner stopped by with some beautiful flowers and a wooden cross. it was nice visiting with them. tonya has been so helpful with processing my college stuff--and i hadn't seen her dad for a very long time.

mary, her parents, her brother and sister in law were also over. they had a bowl of nurse paulas soup and a piece of her cake--paula....mary's mom wants the soup recipe!

dave dicken was here as well. he was giving me updates from work. i'm so blessed to work with such a 'class act!' my only complaint was that he rode his harley over and it really could have used a good cleaning. i showed him my harley to give him an idea of what a really well-maintained harley looks like.

my sister terry brought over the movie 'wild hogs.' does she really think i like to see motorcycles wrecking over and over and over again?????!!!! is she trying to kill me?

dianna is trying to lose weight and keeps trying to give me 5 or 10 lbs....which right now, i'd gladly take! unfortunately, i don't think she'll lose weight on her tostitos and frog ranch salsa and mountain dew diet!

right now, we're changing the dressing on my leg and i'm letting it sit with nothing on it for a bit. it just feels good to be unwrapped. i'm thankful i'm only in a 1/2 cast so i can allow it to air once in a while. its pretty ugly, but hey.....its still attached, mine and i'm thankful!

enough for now, prayer warriors....please continue to fight for us....our recovery continues largely due to you.

blessings...

It was good to see you yesterday. Looks like you are really making progress with the mobility on your left hand. Keep up the hard work! You are going to have to work a clutch you know. Trish - thanks for all of your help, (not pushing me down the ramp and ending up like Lisa LOL)We would not be where we are without all of the support of family and friends. Thanks for all of the kind words, compassion, thoughts and prayers. Everything happens for a reason, and everything in his time. Everyday is a gift...M

Good morning, Lisa:

It sounds like you are doing great and progressing well in your recovery. We are also thankful that Mary is doing well. Friends are a wonderful thing...with their love and encouragement we are able to do amazing things.

Keep a positive attitude and know so many people are praying for you and Mary. You continue to teach us all to be thankful for every day.

Hey good morning girl, you continue to sound better, keep it up. Well I have a deposition prep today and tomorrow for an upcoming deposition. You know how that is, something happen 3 years ago, was not there, but was commanding officer, so lets include her in the lawsuit.

Of all the attitudes we can acquire, surely the attitude of gratitude is the most important and by far the most life-changing.... Zig Ziglar

Have a great day,

Tina

Hey lady! I am so glad to hear that you are doing well. I hope to see you soon, let me know if you would like me to bring over some yummy soup from the Spaghetti Warehouse! (I could probably sneak some of the bread too) I continue to pray for your physical and mental strenghth, that it should keep you standing strong for the remainder of your recovery.

"Do not fear for I am with you;do not be dismayed, for I am your God. i will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." (Isaiah 41:10)

May you continue to heal; have enough yummy homemade food to keep your belly full and enough puppy dog kisses to keep a smile on your face!!! God Bless you. Talk to you soon!

Good Morning, Lisa! It's a great day to be alive! I feel that way AFTER reading your latest blog entry. You see, it's Monday morning and I guess I was a little too active this week-end. I walked into this building sooo slowly because everything hurts....even my feet are stiff and it is uncomfortable to walk. And then I read your answer to Laura's question, and once again, I think to myself, 'girl, what are you doing, letting some minor aches & pains in your legs and feet make you whine?' And now, I know I will feel better when I walk down to get coffee. Why? Because I CAN walk and there's nothing on my body that has been 'degloved'. I'm not sure what tht means, but the word is pretty descriptive, so I don't need to know any more. See Lisa? Your pain and issues and the way you deal with it is soooo inspirational to all the rest of us. More often than not, it takes a smack in the head for us to realize our many blessings and how gratefull we should be because so many of God's children are so much worse off than we. It is only then that we tell ourselves, 'get with the program and don't let a few aches & pains effect the wonderful day God has given you'. Earlier, days after your accident, I wrote that God has a plan for you. I was thinking the plan would manifest itself AFTER you were healed. But no, He is working THROUGH you every single day. Wendy & I planto come visit after work Wed. We can actully come any day this week except for tonight and Friday, so if another day is better for you than Wed., please let Wendy know. She will be calling you. I can't wait to see you and to meet your precious kids!!

Good morning! I just read the answer to my last question. I guess you'll really be like the Bionic Woman now! You'll be better, stronger and faster! (I think I just dated myself!) Watch out world here she comes : ) Now to think of the next question....

Hi Mary! Tanya said she was able to see you Sunday. Glad to know you're getting better too.

Keep the faith! This too shall pass.

Sounds like you had a great Sunday, girl! That is awesome! Glad to hear that Mary is also coming along really well in her recovery.
That guy who hit you two should consider himself fortunate that it happened in another state--if it would have been close to home, I think he would have had an army of folks after him, looking for him! Sure does seem like that's always the way--a person who causes so much injury and pain doesn't get injured himself at all!
Hope you have a good day today as well, woman! You have certainly earned it. If you see the therapy Nazi(s) today, I hope it's not TOO painful. I still have bruises from my last session on Friday! He keeps telling me it's good pain, but it doesn't FEEL good when he is inflicting it, that's for sure!
But the therapy Nazis SO certainly help a lot, so do what they tell you!
Hang in there girls!!!!! You are getting better and better every day and soon will be back to your old selves again!

Major: Sounds like that you & Mary are doing much better now and your attitudes are good , and you seem to have a bunch of people caring for you. So what is the deal ? why aren't back to work? remember how you tell me to "Man Up" all the time?.....Just kidding (LOL) We are all glad to hear that you are both starting to feel better and hopefully all the really major stuff is going to be over soon..
I really enjoy reading your blog each day, I know that it is probably hard trying to keep up with it each day with all that you have going on...but we really do care and keep praying that you make a full recovery and get back to work soon.. we really miss you

be good and keep the faith

Have you thought about installing a webcam so that we can see what's going on instead of just hearing about it? LOL ... thought that would make you laugh. Our God is such a great and wonderful one that He surely is watching over you and Mary. I mean He doesn't have a choice with all who are interceding on your behalf. Take care and I make a mean chicken soup myself, so I just might have to make a batch and stop by. Take care! Kathy Imhoff

Lias,

Stay cheerful. It's a good and positive thing. I haven't heard you complain yet, well except for the drain tube removed (such language). That kind of attitude will keep you a winner.

Here's the soup recipe for Mary's mom:
Chicken and Wild Rice Soup

1/4 c. butter
4 celery stalks, diced
2 lg. carrots, diced
1 sm onion, diced
1 sm red onion, diced
1/2 c. green onions, sliced
1/2 c. slivered almonds
1 tbsp. drained and chopped pimento
1 tbsp gresh ground pepper
2 tsp garlic salt
2 bay leaves
1/2 tsp turmeric
3 qts (or more) chicken stock
1 1/2 c. white rice
1/2 c. wild rice
1/2 tsp salt
4 c. diced cooked chicken
3 c. sliced mushrooms

Melt butter in large skillet over med-low heat. Add celery, carrots, onions, almonds and pimento and cook until slightly softened, stirring occasionally. Mix in dillweed, pepper, garlic salt, bay leaves and turmeric. Bring 3 quarts of stock, white and wild rice and salt to boil in large pot. Reduce heat, add celery mix and simmer 30 minutes adding more stock if soup is too thick. Add chicken and mushrooms, discard bay leaves. Heat soup gently, do not boil. Enjoy.

Changes I made. I didn't use the pimentos or the mushrooms (personel preference). I did need to add more stock so if you'd like a smaller batch of soup, just don't use as much rice.

I'm sure you are working hard today, on therapy and such. Good to see you and hear your progress in person!
Love and Prayers,
Paula

Major,

Glad to hear you're getting out. It's hard being confined when you're used to being so active. I saw Capt. Teaford today. He says Becky needs to walk your dogs because their son leaves for college soon and she'll have an empty nest. Keep your spirits up and remember God only gives us what we can handle and you are doing a GREAT job.

Thinking of you and wishing you and Mary speedy and complete recoveries, at least as much as can be with the bionic parts. If only they could give you all the super powers you want. Why walk when you can fly, right? Keep up the good work, gals. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Although the healing process may not be going as well as you'd like, know that God has his own time and plan for you. Just think of all the lives you have touched through your blog. May God bless you and Mary with continued healing and positive attitudes. :) Cindy

Lisa,

I am glad to hear your upbeat and positive reports on your progress. It must have something to do with faith moving mountains.

This is just a gentle reminder that we have gone about two weeks since the end of class. If you need any assistance or have any questions about your last assignment, please let me know.

My continued best wishes for your recovery
