march 1, 2008 - my soul takes refuge and finds shelter and confidence in You… (psalm 57:1)

top of the morning, friends!

thank you for all the birthday wishes! other than a few aches and pains, 44 doesn't feel too bad!

i appreciate the cards and calls - you guys have been great!

i hope this finds you all well and healthy. i'm getting better every day!

the picture here is of my friend ernestine, whose birthday is one day off from mine. happy 90th birthday, ernie!!!

i attended a motion to suppress hearing in wheeling yesterday on my case. the suspect's attorney was attempting to suppress the blood test, which showed a series of narcotics. fortunately, the magistrate ruled in our favor and as far as i know, the test will remain. thanks to my friend captain tina phillips, WVSP for her hospitality during my visit as well.

story for the day:

The Sands of Forgiveness

by Author Unknown

A story tells that two friends were walking through the desert. During some point of the journey they had an argument, and one friend slapped the other one in the face.
The one who got slapped was hurt, but without saying anything, wrote in the sand: TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE.

They kept on walking until they found an oasis, where they decided to take a bath. The one who had been slapped got stuck in the mire and started drowning, but the friend saved him.
After he recovered from the near drowning, he wrote on a stone: TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SAVED MY LIFE.

The friend who had slapped and saved his best friend asked him, "After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand and now, you write on a stone, why?"
The other friend replied "When someone hurts us we should write it down in sand where winds of forgiveness can erase it away. But, when someone does something good for us, we must engrave it in stone where no wind can ever erase it."

LEARN TO WRITE YOUR HURTS IN THE SAND AND TO CARVE YOUR BENEFITS IN STONE.

Man! There's quite a list of us on the blog today who are creaky and falling apart! Hee hee hee... I saw "Dirty Dianna" yesterday--she looked great and seemed to be doing o.k. with her one crutch. Didn't see her dancing though she did have her usual trademark smile!
Yeah, I learned my lesson to a: not wear "the boot" while coming down stairs, and b: to not HURRY while coming down the stairs. Lost it where my staircase takes a turn. Although it is good I had my boot on--I hurt most everything else besides where I had the surgery, so that's good. And my therapy Nazi put my hip/leg back in working order last night. Now just have to wait for the ouchy spots to heal up. Was a little discouraging (combined with navigating throught the continued snow and ice) yesterday; but the sun out today is already working its magic!
I hope you have a great weekend, girl! And it is sure great news that the defense attorney was unsuccessful in his quest to have the test disallowed. I do think that guy definitely deserves jail time not only for his lack of remorse but also to (at least for a while) prevent him from hurting or killing others.
Will definitely keep the folks you mentioned in my prayers--for the Jones family to lose Tasha after she waged such a valiant battle has to just be devastating--I didn't even know her personally, and that's the way I felt when I heard the news. May God watch over her family and friends...

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY. Sorry I forgot.Between working on the rider training motorcycles, old car restoration projects, and squeezing in workouts I've gotten out of touch. Sorry to hear about so many folks being down and out.Doc did give me a good bill of health last Wed.though.Tell Dianna I hope the knee surgery helps improve her dancing.

Your Retired Bud.
