January 12, 2010 - "Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord"

Top of the morning, friends!

I hope this blog entry finds you all well and recovering from the holidays! Mine was great--I was able to spend some time with my family in Middletown.

Things have been extremely busy here. I started teaching Juvenile Delinquency at Ohio University on 1/4--and have a full class of 35 students! I am amazed at what these guys and gals teach me! They are a great group of students! I will also be teaching another class on Police Patrol Operations in the spring. I look forward to that class as well. I have taught it several times, and it is "right up my alley" in terms of subject matter.

Our consulting business continues to do well, particularly for a first-year start-up company. While we would love to be busier, we couldn't be more pleased with how we did in 2009.

I have a praise report. As many of you know, I've been in the job hunt for about a year. And it has been a long and arduous process. I have been offered a senior operations manager position with a local correctional facilty, and begin work in February. I'm very excited about this, as I'll help oversee the finances, HR, IT, Foodservices, among other things. I'm thrilled to be getting back into goverment services because that's what I know and enjoy. Please keep me in your prayers that this is THE job that God has prepared for me. While it's a lot of what I did for the Patrol, I know I have much to learn. I'll keep you posted on my progress.

Dad is doing well, but does go in for his hernia surgery on Thursday. It is supposed to be an outpatient procedure. We pray all goes well and he'll be up and ready for fishing season this spring!
While it's not her, the above picture looks so much like my dog Chrissy, that I just had to post it! Even more ironic....she HATES cats!

Please keep the following people in your thoughts and prayers, as they are all facing some type of battle:
  • Joyce P.

  • My dad, Ross

  • Erin H.

  • Dave D.

  • Roger

  • Phil V.
